We are looking to recruit a Support Engineer who will assist the team in supporting our client.
(PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY – THIS IS NOT A IT DESKTOP SUPPORT POSITION.)
VAS-X is looking to recruit a Support Engineer to be deployed on various product lines within the company. The position will primarily focus on supporting and maintaining custom applications.
Your role is to take ownership of customer issues reported and see them through to resolution, including if these are later identified as bugs.
You will also be required to perform effective Preventative maintenance by thorough inspection, detection and correction of incident failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Your job description is not limited to the above.
Due to the business-critical nature, you may occasionally be required to work outside of regular working hours.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the Telecommunications Software Support environment would be a definite advantage.
- Grade 12
- Standard literacy – English: read, write and speak
- IT Degree or Diploma
- Working SQL knowledge. PLSQL will be a definite advantage
- Workable knowledge of Linux
- Oracle APEX skills would be very beneficial
- Bash Scripting
- Working knowledge of Linux OS
- Able to use PLSQL to retrieve data from ORACLE databases; this includes Procedures/packages.
- Thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience in Scrum/Agile methodologies
- Strong Problem-solving skills and accurate forecasting of effort required and closing timeframe.
